Welcome

We are delighted to be celebrating the seventh Stamford International Music Festival from July 25th to August 7th 2010.

The Festival was founded in 2004 by violinist, Andrew Smith to foster musical growth and performance experience for college students and young professional musicians in the performing arts.

Every year the Festival organises a summer retreat for musicians from around the world. Students join with faculty from major conservatoires in Europe and the US, to discover and advance the study of music in an intensive two weeks of coachings.  The purpose is to promote the appreciation and performance of music and at the same time to offer the public an exciting array of top quality concerts and public master classes by international artists.

Students are selected on the basis of talent and given the opportunity to play before live audiences.  This gives members of the public the opportunity to hear promising young musicians at the start of their careers playing classical and “cutting edge” music.

The Festival has it’s home in the historic stone town of Stamford in Lincolnshire, lauded as  “the finest stone town in England”, and has become a centre of excellence for the teaching and performance of music by classical and contemporary composers.
