The Festival does not oversee general transportation or flights to and from the festival for participants. However, since we want your trip to be happy and problem free, we do arrange for an airport shuttle, provided by the Stamford Endowed School, to take participants to and from London's Heathrow Airport at the start and end of the festival. In addition, we are happy to help and advise you with your plans and if you choose to make your own plans to travel in England the journey to Stamford is made easy by a regular train service and convenient road network that places it a short journey from many major towns. Stamford is about 100 miles from Central London just off the A1 - one
of the primary roads linking north to south. When traveling from London
take the M25 (the circular bypass that rings the edge of London) to the
A1 (M) on the north side of London. Head north on the A1(M) and it turns
into the A1. Shortly after passing Peterborough you will see signs for
Stamford. Stamford is linked to London Kings Cross Station (the principal rail station serving the north of England) via Peterborough. At Kings Cross Station (which is also on the London underground line) you can take the train to Stamford via Peterborough and arrive in less than two hours. The train from Stamford also connects to such centers as Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford-Upon-Avon, York, Birmingham, Edinburgh and even Stansted Airport. There are various rail providers that serve Stamford and ticket prices and journey times can vary depending on how far in advance you book and what time of the week you travel. If you fly in to Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton airport you will first need
to connect to Kings Cross Station via the "Undergound" (London's
metro system) or the Rail Service. The UK has many International Airports. London is served by four principal flight hubs all well connected to rail and road options that make it easy to get to your festival destination. London Heathrow - LHR It is also possible to fly to Manchester's International Airport and
sometimes airlines offer cheap deals that make it worthwhile. You should
know that travel between Manchester and Stamford is not as convenient
as London. You should also remember that the airport shuttle runs only
to and from London's Heathrow Airport. |
